Wedding at the Millenium Center on 12/13/14

Emily and Matthew put together a spectacular team for their vintage modern 1960's themed wedding. Bringing all sorts of fun elements together, they combined polka dots, bows and more to to create the perfect setting.

They celebrated their Mad-Men-esque reception at the Millennium Center in Winston Salem, NC. Magnolia South Photography did a beautiful job photographing the day - we're totally smitten with the images! Coordinated Events help to plan and coordinate on the day of, and their gorgeous four-tier multi-flavored cake has Edible Artistry written all over it.

How they met:

Matt and I met through mutual friends at a basketball game in Chapel Hill. I was attending college in Raleigh and he was attending college in Greensboro. We had actually went to the same high school and grew up in the same town but never knew each other. Our relationship grew over the phone and long distance weekend trips for 5 years until fate brought the me to a job in Greensboro. There was definitely something [special] there! We met in March and I was studying abroad that summer so even after talking for hours every night, I kept putting off making our relationship ‘official.’ We spoke rarely while I was gone, mostly through emails at internet cafes. Once I returned, I immediately called him and said “Ask me again!” - this time I said yes, I would be his girlfriend. The rest was history.

The Proposal:

I received a job offer which would move me to Greensboro and put an end to years of a long distance relationship. We were both very very happy. To celebrate, Matt said we should spend the weekend at the beach. Not unusual for us. On our last night there he insisted we walk the beach after dinner where after walking to a secluded spot, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes and it was so dark I honestly couldn’t even see what the ring looked like! We walked back to the car and called our parents. Turns out Matt had the ring for months before and was waiting for the right moment. My parents knew the whole time!

Did you use TriadWeddings Magazine to help with your planning process and vendor selection?

YES. I received several copies over my planning period and pretty much every vendor
I used was either featured in the magazine at some point or a part of the group of vendors in the back of the magazine. I was so happy to have something with trustworthy and proven vendors in it. I knew I could count on every single person.
