Sparkly Purple Wedding at Starmount Country Club

What do you do when your favorite color is purple, but you're getting married in the fall and aren't sure how to balance the season with the look?

Say hello to the gorgeous color that is eggplant. Cristi and Ryan submitted their wedding to us and we love how they displayed that perfectly with their October event in Greensboro, NC. Bringing in various shades of purple, black, and silvery grays. With the talents of Coordinated Events helping to plan and coordinate this classy (and perfectly sparkling) event, their vision of a purple fall wedding was beautifully brought to life.

Silver Feather Studios takes us from the proposal to the ceremony at Phillips Chapel, all the way to their dance-filled reception in their beautiful highlight film.

Their beautifully captured details, photographed by Robyn Van Dyke Photography, are a stunning documentation of the gorgeous day.

How They Met

Ryan and I met after The Jingle Ball, a charity event benefitting Toys for Tots in Raleigh, NC on December 8, 2011. We both went to the same restaurant afterwards. Ryan and I had briefly met a few weeks prior to that night but never had the chance to really talk. The night of the charity event I stopped Ryan and told him he looked familiar. We ended up talking and dancing all night and the rest is history!! We soon began dating and spending all of our time together. I can still remember the first time I saw Ryan that night. I instantly felt a connection and knew there was something special there. He was so funny and full of personality and of course handsome too!! I definitely believe there is a reason I stopped him as he walked by me that night in December and I’m so glad I did!

The Proposal

I have always wanted to go to the North Carolina mountains and cut down a Christmas tree. Ryan planned a weekend away in December for us to get our tree and stay in a cabin. The weekend just so happened to be the 2 year anniversary of the night we met. We drove up to the cabin that Ryan rented on Friday night. Saturday morning Ryan insisted we would go get our tree. I didn’t think it made sense since we were staying all weekend and the tree may die. But there was no changing his mind. We drove up the mountain to the tree farm and after walking in the cold for a bit we finally picked the perfect tree. Ryan said he was going to get the person to cut it down. When he came back I asked if he would take a picture of us in front of the tree. However, the worker already had Ryan’s phone in his hand. Ryan pulled me to the side and began to swing my hands and tell me he loved me and wanted to spend forever with me. At that moment I knew he was proposing and all I could say over and over was “Are you serious?” Ryan got down on his knee and asked me to marry him and I said yes! The best part was the worker was filming the entire proposal!! I was so surprised and so happy. We finally got our tree cut down and on our car to take back to the cabin. When we arrived at the cabin about an hour later I walked in the door to see 20 of our closest friends and family from NC, TN, and CA. The entire cabin was decorated to celebrate our engagement. The biggest surprise was my mom was there who had flown in from California. It was the most special proposal and such an amazing surprise that Ryan spent months planning. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with our friends and family!!!

Did you use TriadWeddings Magazine to help with your planning process and vendor selection?

I used the magazine to get inspiration and ideas. Additionally, living in Raleigh, the magazine was a great resource to find Triad area vendors. All of our vendors were AMAZING!! There are not words to explain how grateful we are to Susan Marie Cook and her team. They went above and beyond and were such an integral part of our day being absolutely perfect. Designs North literally “wowed” us with their flowers. It was more than I could have expected!! Our photographer, Robyn Van Dyke, captured the day perfectly with amazing images. We also LOVED our wedding video by Silver Feather Studios and are SO glad we chose them to help us relive our day.

Is there anything you would change about your wedding day?

The only thing I would change is what I hear from many brides - that I could have slowed down the day to truly enjoy every single moment and take it all in. As much as people tell you to do so there are so many emotions and so much excitement on the big day it just all goes by in a blur and is over so quickly!
