Kristin & Brannon

Brannon and Kristin met on OkCupid. She messaged him first because he had a thoughtful, coherent profile and she thought he was handsome in a major way. Messages quickly turned into texts, then into conversations. They had their first date, which Kristin claims to be the best first date ever, as they shut the restaurant down and then talked in the parking lot for another hour and a half.

Brannon and Kristin both felt the forever feeling pretty early on in their relationship and Kristin suspected that a marriage proposal would be coming soon. With a love for Christmas, she thought for sure that would be when it happened, yet Brannon was adamant about surprising her.

Thursday, September 8th, 2016 was just like any other day. Brannon finished class before I finished work, so I knew he would beat me to my house. When I opened my front door, I saw Brannon sitting on my couch. I also noticed a small, lit Christmas tree with a ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ sign that I recognized from our At Home adventure days before. I was super confused and immediately asked, “What is this?” Brannon told me that he hadn’t done anything sweet for me in a while and I genuinely thought he was just being nice and encouraging my love for premature Christmas celebration. He grabbed my hand and led me across the room beside the cutest little Christmas tree I’ve ever seen. I was so confused that I didn’t even notice the stocking underneath the tree that very obviously had a ring box inside. He gave a speech that made me love him even more and made me feel like the only woman in the entire world. As soon as he started speaking, I realized what was happening because he was a bit emotional. There were lots of happy tears leading up to the moment he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I literally screamed, “BABY! OF COURSE!” immediately before the next wave of emotion hit. He then slid the most gorgeous ring I’ve ever seen on my finger that he personally designed and had custom made. It was an absolute fairy tale that I’m not sure I’ll ever get over. I am the most blessed woman in the entire world to be able to spend the rest of my life with my sweet Brannon.

The couple married at First Baptist Church with their reception following at Carolina Theatre, incorporating the colors of navy, green, white and a merlot-berry color. They wanted everything to feel cozy and felt these colors were perfect for them and the time of year…winter, yet almost spring.

Our wedding day was a hilarious, timeless, romantic, and emotional fairy tale. Every dream I ever had as a little girl came true that day. The only thing that mattered that day was becoming Mrs. Kling. It was truly the BEST DAY EVER!
Our ceremony was the differentiator. We wanted the focus to be on God - the one that made us for each other and that brought us together. The chapel had such an intimate feel and the feeling in the room was pure love. It was extremely emotional and everything we wanted.
There is not a single thing we would change about our wedding day. A table fell over at the reception. My mom forgot napkins for the reception and my uncle had to get some. My mom accidentally smeared chocolate all over the back of my dress. These things are memories that make me smile. I just wish I could re-live the day over and over!
