Incorporating fall into your wedding day

Fall is easily one of the most popular seasons. The trees paint the landscape with bold hues of oranges and reds, while the air becomes cool and crisp. If there weren't already enough reasons to love the pre-winter season, the fashion, warm colors, relaxed feeling, and food involved with the fall months takes the cake! (Pun intended.) For those getting married this fall, congratulations. It's your lucky day. We've found a few absolutely perfect ways to incorporate the season of change into your wedding!

A great way to showcase fall "flare" in your reception is to customize food displays, centerpieces, and decorations. Play up the warm tones and cornucopia feel. We loved these displays from our vendor Savory St. Catering. The mini pumpkin centerpiece ties together the entire scheme of this table, while the bright pops of color keep the atmosphere lively! Just below the pumpkin table, another Savory St. setting is pictured- a cute mantle that perfectly embodies the home-like fall feel.

Another great way to capture the essence of fall in your wedding is to make a statement with your colors. Bold greens, red hues, and deep purple colors complement the natural tones that accompany the season. Other flares that can be added include khaki and navy colors. These are tones that will allow you to stand out, yet they perfectly flow with the feeling of the rest of your fall wedding!

Hair and Makeup

A good style of hair and makeup for a wedding can sometimes be the most intimidating and stressful thing a bride deals with. You want to look and feel your absolute best, but you're also aiming to feel glamourous. This fall- make a statement with your makeup! Play up gold tones, deep burgundy lips, and sultry smokey eyes. For hair, full or half of the hair up can draw attention to the eyes and face. Looser curls or waves complement the daring colors of fall. Take a look at some of these photos from Updo's Studio and The Bella Hair co. and beauty studio to see some of the rich colors that look best during this time of year!

Everyone remembers their grandmother's warm homemade pies- the staple of love and warm gooey goodness when it got chilly outside. Something we have absolutely fallen in love with- these mini pies from Pepper Moon Catering. These are so versatile! Pies can be made in any flavor. They can be savory, with turkey and stuffing for November, or sweet for the pumpkin, pecan, and apple pie lovers! Pies are a classic food for the cooler months.

Cakes leave TONS of room for creativity in a wedding. To capture the essence of fall within this element of your wedding, try dressing up your cake with decadent decor and rich flavors like pumpkin spice.

Comfort Food

Remember, when incorporating fall flavors, take into account the change in weather. Temperatures are getting cooler, thus heartier foods are closely approaching their season. For fall weddings, heavy snacks and meals such as meatballs, or southern style BBQ, are ideal. BBQ or "home-style" southern foods are fun to do for a fall wedding, because they can easily be dressed up via other elements to play into any overall theme!

These mini BBQ sliders from Sweet Basil's Catering are adorable! Perfect grab-n-go comfort food for any reception.
