Chaely & Jeff

Chaely and Jeff met when she was on her senior spring break in college. She and her girlfriends were taking a “last hoorah” trip to Panama City Beach before graduation. Jeff was taking a trip with his old high school friends to get away from work for a few days. One of Chaely’s friends was also friends with Jeff and had met up with them one day for a beach concert. Jeff got separated from the rest of the group and decided to go back with Chaely’s friend and hang out while he tried to get in touch with the rest of his friends.

He walked in and introduced himself to all the girls, getting our names. After he had met everyone, he turned back to me and said, “What was your name again?” We were inseparable the rest of the week.
Jeff said it was love at first sight for him! I was oblivious and thought he was just a really nice guy. I wasn’t used to guys being sweet, kind AND attractive!
Jeff had planned a special weekend away to Boone, NC for just the two of us. I went to college there and always felt like my heart was in Boone. We had plans to hike and spend time outdoors at vineyards because it was fall and that’s my favorite time to be in the mountains. We went on a hike on Rough Ridge Trail off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. What started as a sunny day quickly turned to fog and sprinkling. We finished the hike, but were pretty wet and muddy. Jeff asked if we could go up the first look out just one more time to see if it would clear up enough to eat the picnic we had packed. I agreed. When we got to the first clearing, there were tons of people on it and it was still raining, so he convinced me to keep going. Then it started raining harder and I asked if we could go back. He looked disappointed, but agreed that we could eat our sandwiches in the car. As we walked down and back to the first clearing, it had miraculously stopped raining and there weren’t any people on the rock. Jeff quickly pushed me out there and started nervously asking me if I wanted anything to drink, snack on, etc. He was acting so nervous that I felt like he was definitely up to something. As I was looking out the clearing at the beautiful view, he came behind me and started talking to me in my ear and holding me. Then he pulled away and I turned around to find him on one knee with a beautiful ring. Of course I said YES! We were both crying and hugging. We heard people clapping and cheering! Everyone that had been on the rock previously was watching and even took pictures for us. It was a beautiful memory and I’m so happy someone was able to document it for us.
Hosted at Bella Collina Mansion, our wedding day was nothing short of perfection. It was in mid-October, which was the ideal time for both of us. The month had been oddly rainy for the first half of it, but amazingly, this day was beautiful. Barely a cloud in the sky, it was bright and sunny. Not too hot, not too cold.
My bridesmaids and close family spent the morning getting ready at the venue. When it was time for the ceremony, it had gotten chilly, but the sun was still shining bright. We had a short ceremony and just enough time to take pictures with the setting sun and the lake behind us before the reception.

Incorporating the colors of cream, gold and blush, Chaely and Jeff wanted a very elegant, romantic and formal black tie affair. Chaely loves to get dressed up and fancy and wanted their guests to enjoy something fun like that as well.

One of the most unique elements of our wedding was that a close friend of ours spent countless hours making a slideshow of Jeff and I from birth to now that played throughout the cocktail hour and reception. There was a movie projector and a TV in different areas of the venue and I loved seeing our family and friends laughing and smiling at memories of us through the years that they remembered or were a part of. There is nothing I would change about our wedding day. It was perfect!
