Amy & Kevin

Kevin and Amy met online. It was her last week of service and Kevin was just starting his. Amy was about to give up on the online dating scene and then saw Kevin’s profile. She decided to reach out and they started talking pretty consistently; about camping, hiking, their dogs, and their love for the outdoors. When Amy told Kevin her subscription was about to end, they decided to go ahead and meet up for coffee.

I wasn’t sure what to think of Kevin at first. He was a nice guy, but definitely quirky! The more I got to know him, the more alike I realized we were. We balanced each other out in all the perfect ways. It wasn’t until our first camping trip together that I really completely fell for him!
5D_23097.jpg

Kevin set up a geocaching adventure for the two of them at Grayson Highlands State Park, where they had had their third date. They had camped and hiked there several times on different occasions, so it wasn't out of the norm. Amy ended up finding the geocache and inside the container was a picture and note asking her to marry him!

Our wedding day was incredible and more than I could have ever imagined or hoped for! I had originally wanted a destination wedding, so planning was different than I had anticipated. I was nervous on how everything was going to come together, but it all came together beautifully. The day went by quickly, but one of our guests told us to take ‘snapshots’ in our minds of moments throughout the night. I vividly remember the feelings from each part of the day, from getting ready, to saying our vows, and dancing the night away!

Our wedding had a garden theme. It went naturally with our venue, Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, and Kevin’s landscaping profession. When we went to tour the venue, Kevin was giddy over all the plant varieties and I loved the natural beauty! It was then easy to go with birdcage centerpieces, seed packet seating cards, and other natural and floral decor because of all that the botanical garden already offered!

Our wedding colors were eggplant, sage green, and peach. My mom’s favorite color is purple and so naturally it became mine as well. I am a High Point University graduate, which ingrained purple into my life even further. The sage green and peach came as lighter colored accents with the garden theme wedding.

The table numbers were the most unique element of the day! I had taken pictures from mine and Kevin’s childhood at different ages and put them with the correlating table numbers. So, table 10 had a picture of Kevin at 10 and me at 10. Even though we were living states apart at that point in our lives, it was neat to see us grow up together and have similar interests even miles and world apart!

I would not have changed a thing about our wedding day! I was satisfied and thrilled with how the day went!

Amanda & CJ

Amanda and CJ met when they were in high school together. They had the same group of friends, so were always around each other from time to time at some point. CJ graduated two years before Amanda, so they didn’t see much of each other after that. Their paths crossed again after Amanda graduated and they have been a power duo and unstoppable ever since.

It was definitely love at first sight, at least for me anyways. I knew from the time I met up with CJ again after graduation that he was my soulmate and that I was going to fall head over heels for that boy. He had that spark about him that always made me feel like I was the only one in the room and he made every worry in the world disappear.

We got engaged at a family New Year’s party on December 31st, 2015. He made a scrapbook with every picture that we had ever taken together and put our favorite love song quotes underneath every picture. At the end of the book was a white page that read, “Will You Marry Me?” He was on one knee behind me with the ring and was ready to propose. We had been together for six years before we got engaged, so of course it was the best day of my life up to that point.

Amanda and CJ held their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Grandover Resort & Conference Center. Their colors were blush, navy and champagne gold. This was a trio that Amanda loved and were absolutely stunning when paired together.

One of the most unique elements of the wedding ceremony was the chandelier in the middle of their altar. It was the perfect touch of elegance.

My wedding day was filled with joy, excitement, and a LOT of nerves. Oh boy, there were so many nerves and different emotions. I was so excited and nervous to walk down the aisle and say, “I do”. The weather was perfect and we had all our closest friends and family there with us to be a part of our day. Everyone and everything looked absolutely amazing! The flowers and centerpieces for my tables were out of this world. To top it off, I got married to my best friend on the most beautiful day.

TriadWeddings Magazine helped me so much with getting ideas for décor and foods that I wanted to have. It also helped me with do’s and don’ts for the big day. There’s not a single thing I would change about my wedding. Everything turned out wonderful. I would do it all over again tomorrow if I had the chance!

Kelly & Tyler

Kelly and Tyler met when they use to “cruise” down their main street with friends and show off their cars. They’d hang out at Starbucks and Cookout. Kelly was the new girl in town and once they met, it was love at first sight!

It was a day after Easter and Tyler took Kelly to a favorite park where he had planned an Easter egg hunt for her with those little plastic eggs. He had written little notes and placed them in the eggs, and the last egg had the proposal in it!

Olivia & Carlton

Olivia played basketball with her school and with the church. Carlton [CJ] and his family were attending Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church in Greenville, NC. Ebenezer SDA Church congregation were traveling to Kinston for church due to the flood and the rebuilding of their own church. Pastor Robert Green was the pastor over both churches at the time, and to keep the young people’s attention, he created a basketball team with the Kinston and Greenville congregation. CJ was on the Junior Varsity Men’s basketball team and Olivia played with the Women's Basketball team through the church. Olivia and CJ knew of each other, but it never crossed their minds of dating due to the fact Olivia's parents were very strict about no dating until she was a specific age.

Time passed by and the basketball team and youth activities dwindled down - and everyone grew up and went their separate ways. Well, social networks brought Olivia and CJ back in contact with each other and it was history from there. They quickly fell in love!

Olivia thought she was going to get proposed to around July or August because she picked her ring out in June. CJ definitely surprised her a week before her birthday. The couple always get dressed very nice and goes on weekly dates to their favorite Japanese restaurant, so it did not dawn on her at all what was about to take place. CJ had already talked with the managers and planned everything. The chef normally makes smiley faces and hearts with the rice. As the chef proceeded, CJ proceeded to get on one knee and ask the love of his life, "Will you marry me?" Of course, she said yes and was very surprised he was able to pull it off without her knowing anything about it.

Our wedding theme was ‘The Gibbs Happily Ever After.’ I picked this theme because I have always been ‘Princess Olivia’ or ‘Princess Liv’ to everyone that knew me. My father had given me that name as a little girl. When I began to research venues near Greensboro, NC I found Castle McCulloch. It went hand in hand with me being the Princess that I am. So, a Prince met a Beautiful Princess and they lived Happily Ever After!
Our wedding colors were champagne, gold, ivory, and royal blue - with a pop of deep purple. CJ’s only desire of the entire wedding was to have gold as one of the colors. So, I thought of a contrasting color which would be royal blue. My wedding planner, Nishaka, came up with the idea to pop in some purple to make it look even more awesome!
The most unique element of my wedding day was my bouquet of orchids, my large white loveseat at the reception and my gold crown. They really made me feel like the Queen I became!
TriadWedding Magazine helped me tremendously during our planning process! I was stressed out and was pushing for time (in my mind) and needed to find the right wedding planner to make sure I wasn’t missing anything and one that could help put the pieces of the puzzle together! Well, I found Events by Nishaka through TriadWedding Magazine and she is nothing short of amazing! She is everything and more! The reviews helped me out a lot and I was able to connect with her. She was very quick with responding, unlike many others I reached out to. I needed a planner that was going to be attentive to my needs and she met my needs every time.

There is nothing we would change about our wedding day! Everything we wanted, we had! Our wedding day was amazing, and the wedding of our dreams!

Cassie & Brooks

Brooks and Cassie were friends long before they started dating, yet in October of 2009, he visited her in Boone her freshman year of college with a special gift in hand. He had made her a jewelry box in shop class that contained a note. Not just any note though; it was a ‘check yes or no’ note. Cassie checked ‘yes’, the couple began dating, and the rest is history!

Our engagement day will forever have my heart for many reasons. We planned a weekend trip in Asheville with my sister, and I was so excited to be in one of my very favorite places for a few days. December 18th was freezing, but beautiful, and encompassed everything a mountainous North Carolina December should be. We spent the morning leading up to the proposal wine tasting and shopping (my favorite things) and had a trip to The Biltmore Estate planned that evening. When we pulled up to the Biltmore house, Brooks (who never wants to take pictures) insisted that we walk to a very specific place to take pictures while the sun set. I was thrilled, I love a good photo op.
As we overlooked the NC Mountains, Brooks said to me while reaching in his pocket, “Cassie, I have a question to ask you.” I still replay the moment over and over in my mind today. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised - and so excited! So many emotions! Little did I know, Brooks had his cousin, Chad, and girlfriend, Jessie, hiding (along with the group of people they moved from our proposal spot) to take pictures of us. I was still in shock when I saw Chad and Jessie running towards us (with a crowd of strangers cheering behind them) after I said YES! We all went on a candlelight tour of the Biltmore Estate after the engagement and all I could look at was my left-hand ring finger!
After the tour, Brooks had planned for my parents and his to meet us for dinner without me ever knowing. All of my favorite people were involved in this perfect day and I couldn’t imagine it any other way! Brooks and I are so incredibly lucky to have these sweet memories and moments captured by Chad, as he is no longer with us. This made a special day even more memorable. We are forever thankful for December 18th, for the memories it brings, and more importantly...for the people we were fortunate enough to share it with.

Now both with the last name Mayberry, and both being from Pilot Mountain (also known as Mayberry), Brooks and Cassie knew that getting married in their hometown was a no brainer. They chose to have their wedding at JOLO Winery & Vineyards, and incorporated the colors of gold, wine and neutrals.

I woke up at my childhood home on my wedding day. The girls and I drove up to Pilot Mountain to get ready in the quaint cottage at JOLO while the boys played football and hung out around downtown Mount Airy. The girls sipped on JOLO Twinkles and danced to some of our favorite songs while getting all dolled up. Before I knew it, it was time to step into my gorgeous dress and walk down the aisle. My daddy and I slid into the most beautiful old school Bentley and headed up to the ceremony.
Dad and I share a love for many things, one of those being The Beatles. He opened the door of the car to walk me down the aisle and the string quartet started to play “Here Comes the Sun” and my heart melted. I looked at dad and he gave me a wink and a nod and next thing I knew I was standing next to Brooks with the biggest smile on my face. We stood in front of a mantle that my coordinator, mother, and father restored specifically for our day decorated with beautiful flowers, greenery, and our custom wedding logo. The aisle was decorated with flowers and lanterns lining the way, but not just any lanterns. The lanterns were plated with the names of our loved ones who had passed - two of those groomsmen along with our sweet and dearly missed family members. We wanted to make sure they were with us in spirit.
We danced and sang and celebrated with our family and friends and the night ended way too soon. We did a “fake” exit with a flower petal toss and drove our getaway car down to the end of the property for a second of alone time and came back to the party to wrap up the night! We didn’t have to go far at the end of the night because we were able to stay in the adorable little cottage where I got ready that morning, so the night ended where it started! I can’t think of a single thing I could change - it was absolutely perfect. It truly was the best day ever!
